Folks, I just got out of the hospital. Went in with a bad CFS flareup and had the misfortune to get a doc who had not only heard of the condition but refused to read my chart as well. I'd have been better to have stayed home! So he tested everything, shot me full of stuff that made me sicker. Finally, I escaped.

Anyway, I am very weak and feel like a pincushion, but at least I am home. Not sure when I will be posting again regularly...hopefully my strength will return soon. Just now I am becoming all too well acquainted with my bed....and I think I know how Janis and Philip felt after the salmon.

Dave we are DEFINITELY sending mega Rudie power your way. Just got off the phone with "Kath of the Guitar" who was worried about you! Were your ears burning? I said it was probably something like a computer crash which would be bad enough! Was hoping it wasn't health related.

We know you'll get lots of healing Rudie vibes headed your way and that is bound to make for a speedy recovery!

CFS is, unfortunately, quite real...you should google the site and send it to the dumdoc, but it probably wouldn't do much good. Do you have a regular physician? Tell him/her about your experience and who the dumdoc was... that would probably do more good, since they tend to talk to each other.
It would make you feel better, anyway...it always does when you can pass the problem on.
As for your health, talk to others similarly afflicted...that helps too.
Meanwhile, rest, sleep, drink lots of water and juice and eat a bit, pamper yourself, and you'll feel better soon...we are with you!
Hugs,
Bat

Well, on second thought, maybe we should leave him alone to rest...we do tend to get a little boisterous once in a while, not conducive to resting.

My real doctor is on vacation, so when I started having problems and found he was not there, I went to the emergency room, only to encounter a rent-a-doc, Dr. Frank Burns (not his real name) who promptly admitted me, then decided in rapid succession that I had a brain tumor, encephalitis, MS, lupus, a heart condition, and I forget what else. All of which required tests.

So they drew blood, they ran me through machines, they gave me pills that made me puke and then "to make things easier" gave me injections of the same stuff along with an anti-nausea drug of some sort. I kept telling Dr. Burns et al to simply read my chart....no luck.

Someone finally did read my chart on Friday morning and I was immediately released with apologies. Recovering from all of the tests and attempted "treatments" will take a bit longer I fear.

Next time I will just stay home and be sick. And sleep....that's the only cure I've ever found.

Anyway, I hope Dr. Burns goes back where he came from....

Personally, it sounds like grounds for a malpractice action!

I hate doctors who will not listen to the patient! I refuse to be talked down to as if my body belonged to someone else.

I am the one experiencing the symptoms. If I say it hurts, it hurts, even if the damned doctors do not think it should.

Consequently,I don't go to the doctor or the ER unless I absolutley have to. My doctors quickly learn that when I show up, I mean business.

The neat thing is....my real doctor is the chief of the medical staff at the hospital. And when he gets back from his vacation.....I'm sure he'll be looking at my chart sooner or later. I probably won't have to say a word....

I hope your doctor gets back and sees that chart soon.

And wouldn't you just love to be a fly on the wall when he does get a good look at that chart?

The worst thing this idiot did was to take away all of my prescribed meds, since I hadn't brought the bottles with me and the doctor who prescribed them was on vacation. Three have some withdrawal potential, so not only did I start getting "sicker" after a point, but now I must deal with getting back on the things and all the associated side effects. Gangs of fun. Pretty much everything is giving way to laying around being sweaty and being unable to follow the plot of the average TV show (which happens to me often enough anyway). Fortunately, I have few responsibilities at the moment....

I hope that fellow has to take out his own appendix with a rusty spoon someday. Or that he gets on meds and operates heavy machinery.
