This man made a remarkable escape from Auschwitz in a bid to alert the world to what was happening there- alas no one took him seriously.
In spite of his terrible feeling of failure, he went on to lead a career as an eminent surgeon.
he died last month and should be remembered not only only for his amazing escape, but for how he rebuilt his life after the war.
Anyone who has ever visited Auschwitz will know what a horrifyingly "normal" place it is.
RIP Rudolf Vrba
