In celebration of Bob Dylan's 66th birthday, Hibbing, Minnesota will be holding its annual "Dylan Days" celebration around two weeks from now. Among the events will be a concert by Maria Muldaur, whose most recent album release is a collection of Dylan songs. She'll be performing at the Hibbing High School Auditorium (actually a lot cooler than that sounds--the Minnesota Orchestra just performed there and the sound was glorious), the site, allegedly, of Bob Dylan's first-ever public performance.
Now I mention this in part out of selfish reasons, because they'll be looking for someone for next year. And if the folks who put this event on would really like to put on a good concert, and Janis will be somewhere in the vicinity....well, Janis, would you be interested? It's a lovely hall, and Hibbing is lacking in most of the horrors of Eveleth that I have mentioned so often. Would be happy to put you in touch with the organizers, and can direct you to lodgings and restaurants that won't poison you. And should Rudies follow you to this trackless wilderness, I've got extra space.
Will of course be happy to show everyone both of the sights, too. Actually, there is a third, if anyone wants to sit on old mining machinery that has been made into a "historical site".
