View Full Version : Couldn't resist the food...
It's after midnight here. I shouldn't eat anymore. Not that I'll be producing gremlins, but I will surely produce some fat on my a**. I am afraid I already ate my lunch for tomorrow :o
My mother has made some wonderful soup. A hybrid of her own, rich, homecooked vegetablesoup and a Hungarian kind of soup with (I believe they are called) dumplings in it. David could you help me translate? I mean 'grizgalushka'.
It was so good. I couldn't resist. Had to eat it now and here. It was heaven.
What was the last time you couldn't resist? And what was it?

Popcorn I just have to have it! When at a movie even if I have no more money. I am so tempted to look in the garbage for containers of popcorn. I don't now but at one period of my life I used to go to pizza places and if I had the money buy a drink I would, but reguardless I would scan the tables for uneaten slices and take them. I was really, really, really, poor. But that was I quess the best period of my life!
Peace,

Darlene, it's vegan friendly, good for you and comes in sweet or savoury and you can get it in every cinema in the UK. BUT...... it's much cheaper if you buy some in the corner shop before you go into the cinema.

Hay david uk, Where I go to the movies it is to movies that are coming out or has come out on DVD, only costs a $1.50. So pretty much I have the large screen all to myself. Besides I don't nosily eat popcorn or make noises when I drink. Do you?
Peace, Darlene

LOL!
You wouldn't want to go to the movies where I go then. People just holler out at the screen in the middle of the movie!
I'm guilty of a few "oh no she didn't"'s myself in a few dramas.

That soup sounds really good, Eva. Save some for me!
Oak
I already ate it Oak! I was longing for it too today... Unfortunately there was no more. But I think it isn't very hard to make. Cook a good chickensoup with lots of vegetables in it. For the grízgaluska you must do the following (I nagged untill my mother told me) Grízgaluska are little dumplings made from egg and semolina. I found the word...
Semilina soup balls:
Break an egg in a bowl
Beat the egg so that the eggyolk is loose
Stir semolina in it untill it's a thick paste. Make it really thick, otherwise the little balls will break up later in the soup. If you want you can put in a little salt and pepper. But you hardly need it because there's enough in the soup.
Let it sit for about half an hour. The wet semolina will expand a bit further.
Form little balls from the semolinapaste with a big size teaspoon
Drop the balls in the soup about 15 minutes before the soup is ready.
When they are 'done' the balls will come floating to the surface.

I will have to try this recipe out. Thanks!

They still make Quisp? If I remember right, there was a "related" cereal called "Quakes"--same stuff in different shapes.
Then there was Count Chocula and Boo Berry and I forget how many others in that particular "family". Had neat little doo-dads in the boxes too as I recall.
Oak, maybe you are right. A lot food from the Austrian-Hungarian region is crossover food of course. No idea who invented it. I just know it's good! :D

Night... Yum... Hot chocolate, warm vanilla milk, or hot tea.
For the most part I don't snack unless I come across a snack I can't resist... Which usually turns out to be chocolate.
~Song
Yes Song, I too think chocolate is hardest to resist.

I've always been a chocoholic :D
S*** the chocolate is luring me... Staring at me and calling my name. And I already overate. Why am I so weak when it comes to food? :( I could seriously use your help here with the chocolate, Songdragon!

Eva, I heard this little voice in my ear and it was songdragon and she said "she would there soon be there to get all the chocolate before it ever gets to you, just to wait and she would take care of any chocolate around".
On the job!

Take away ALL chocolate...?

Eep, Eva, how can I help, I'm having my own arguments with chocolate...
Yesterday I had five chocolate coins and some hot chocolate, this morning I ate a scrumptious piece of bittersweet chocolate.
You're not the only one losing your battles with the chocolate!
What I do when I'm going through chocolate so fast is remind myself how much I like it, and that it will be gone if I eat it all. So I make rules about how fast I can eat it, like limiting myself to one piece a day. But it doesn't always work! I had one piece of the chocolate I was limiting myself on... but seem to have gorged on the rest!
My best to you, Eva! Resist the lure of the chocolate... If at all possible.

Well I certainly wish more people would think of it, Andrea. Such as the woman I saw this morning pushing a double stroller down a main street downtown with two very young toddlers in it. The morning sun was shining directly in their naked eyes, with an icy cold wind blowing directly in their faces. Both of them were practically screaming in torment.
And what was Ms Clueless doing? Babbling away to her girlfriend as if the kids weren't even there. GRRRRRRR!
And chocolate doesn't break your heart. Although it can fill up the arteries in a not so nice way though... :o

and chocolate never says "it's not you it's me":D
don't ask me why I even bought the friggin' things! I knew I was likely to get in trouble. They are milk chocolate drops, flavored with some mint, with a pastel colored candy coating. Not sure why they are called dutch mints. any dutch person want to explain that to me?
They sure were yummy though. burp.
I have no idea, Dar.
All I know is that my mama loves me: she brought me chocolate icecream... mmmmmmmmmm *content expression on face*

MMMmmmm! Fresh strawberry pie! My friend and I dropped in on my mom and dad today, and Mom was busy making the glaze for a strawberry pie. She told us where she got some good berries, and, by golly, it sounded like a good idea to me!
We headed to that store, got the berries and bought:eek: ready-made pie crusts. I make fabulous pie crust, so that's almost blasphemous for me! I just didn't have time to bake any!
So, I piled the pie shell full of delicious strawberries and poured on the cooled glaze. Topped with some whipped topping, it was deeeeelicious! MMmmmm
I also found some rhubarb at the store, so there will be a strawberry rhubarb pie in the near future! I will make the crust for that one!
