Randy's update

Just thought you all might want to know that Randy is doing better. He has been home a week now and his first check up went well with the surgeon. Randy is healing and when he goes back next week, if the healing still looks good, the Dr may allow him to come off the liquid food and allow him to try soups, juices, instead. Randy will also see the Dr that has been treating the infection next week as well. Hope you are all doing well. Take care, Becky

Whew! what a relief to get such positive news about our boy, Randy! I'm sure it's a huge load off your mind and shoulders, too, Becky..."you've been a brick through this whole sordid mess" ...(it's a quote and I have no idea where it comes from!)

Hello all,
I just spoke with my Mom who said Randy had a check up with the Doctor who is in charge of his antibiotics for the infections. Randy is very weak; resting alot yesterday and today. The Dr said it could be from the meds...he goes back to the surgeon again tomorrow...if the healing is still going well, perhaps he'll be off the liquid food and be allowed his own soups, juices etc. My Dad is taking him to his appointments! Dad is 82 but gets around as if he were 60!
Today marks the 24th Anniversary of my automobile accident that I was read last rites as my injuries were so severe and life threatening. Yep, literally half my life has been on "borrowed" time! Guess "someone" knew my family would need me down the road, therefore, here I am. ;) Just wanted to share that news with ya'll as you don't know too many personal things about me....
Keep the families and all involved with Virginia Tech University in your prayers. My other brother Tim graduated from there and our community has many, many kids that attend college in Blacksburg. Such a horrific tragedy.

Oh my! I'm glad you're still with us, Becky. You just make the boards that much brighter, and I'm glad to have met you. Your family and your friends definitely need you, you're one strong lady!

Though I'm not glad about the circumstances surrounding it (you having to update us on Randy) I am glad you came to the board!

Good to hear Randy is doing well! I'll keep him, you, your family, and all the families from Virginia Tech in my thoughts. Personally it was shocking to me to hear about the shooting. My sister is down there and that something that horrific could be closer to her than I am makes me feel helpless... Like I can't protect her... She's fine, but it really gave me a dose of the shivers. My sympathies are there...

Beck, Thanks for the update on Randy! I'm sure Randy will get stronger as each day goes on. The meds are probably knocking his body for a loop. Keep the faith...I am still praying for you guys! God bless your Dad for doing what he's doing. You definately need the help....You can't do it alone! Please keep us updated.

:( Hi everyone, mixed news on Randy today. I told you all yesterday that he was very weak; it seems that the Dr handling the infection tested his blood again and his white blood count is back up to 17,000...yep, another infection. Ugh. Dad picked up his new antibiotic for him. His follow up appointment with his surgeon went okay today. The surgical site is continuing to heal and so the Dr said he could begin having broths and juices...Mom said Randy called her to let her know when my Dad was on his way home from dropping Randy back at his apartment and Randy sounded stronger than yesterday, which is good, however, I am worried about the infection again. Hopefully the antibiotic will have a better chance to work well now that the incision is healing.
Dee, yep, you're right...it wasn't our time to go anywhere when we were oh so close...glad you're still here too!
Thanks to all of you for your continued prayers and well wishes for Randy and the family. To all of you on the board that also need prayers, I keep you all in mine each day. Take care, each of you and I will keep you up to date.
