I found these posts on the Vinyl section of audioasylum.com. Comments, anyone?

Came across a dang M/M- copy of a Best of Janis Ian, Japanese pressing, with Obi, and my daughter just noticed, it's SIGNED on the front cover. I can't find anything similar online. I'm not looking to sell it, but wondering if it's special.

I like it. I like it a lot.

in my opinion, an autograph is only special if it had meaning to me -- i.e., if i was personally involved. as a buyer, i would likely pay less for an autographed copy of something (why do i want something that simply has an artist's signature on it.... or, worse, says "dear "?).

i think i'm in the minority, though.

maybe you're not in the minority; i agree with you.

in this particular case, i can't find any info on this release, and the sonics are in the top 5% of anything i've heard on my system. just awesome.

I have at least one of them. The Japanese also released it on CD, and had it distributed in Australia as well. I also have a European LP.

And.....my new avatar is what the album cover looks like. It's actually a copy of the CD front, but minus the obi strip, that's exactly what it looks like

Track listing is:

Side A
Will you dance
Love is Blind
Jesse
I would like to dance
In the Winter
Stars

Side B
At Seventeen
Between the Lines
Take to the Sky
Bright Lights & Promises
Miracle Row/Maria

I just checked my stock and I have 2 of the Japanese ones. One is missing the OBI strip. I also have the CD. Tracks on the CD aren't exactly the same as on the Japanese vinyl, but the artwork matches. The Japanese and Dutch went all out with Janis' things. I have a vast collection of '45's with gorgeously glorius and vibrant color picture sleeves, and I also have Japanese mail order albums, and special 2 disc vinyl sets. Hope this helps without the TMI effect!

Thanks.

I'll use the occasion to post a link to this forum on the Vinyl Asylum.

They say that the best vinyl to buy are the ones pressed in Japan and the ones marked DJ-copy. Much better quality.

Wonder if it is the same with cd´s?
