Thank you Janis so much! The backstage photo's were a blessing. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during all that wonderful interaction between the best of the best. It was so wonderful to catch a glimpse of the backstage.
Thank you and Peace,

Janis,
Thank you for sharing this tribute to Odetta. Your beautifully written tribute was so moving to read-I can only imagine what it was like to hear you say that in person. The photos and listening to Odetta's songs gave me a peak into what must have been a once in a life time experience for you, as it was for Oak!

Wow! What an illustrious gang!
I love David Amram's Concerto for Horn in Bb...never played it, but love to hear it...and that necklace is really juju...it's a wonder he doesn't get it tangled up in his thumb valve! What fun you must have had! Thanks!
When I am near Odetta, I stand a bit straighter. I speak a bit more clearly. And I note that everyone around her does the same. When we are around Odetta, we are one and all on our best behavior. It is not because we feel like children about to be chastised by an adult. It is not because we fear her, or even that we admire her.
We are on our best behavior because Odetta only sees what is best in us.
I can pay no higher compliment.
- Janis Ian
Funny...I feel the same way when I'm around Janis.
