Seeing Henry at the UK LRC was the biggest surprise for me. Rowy had asked me if I had his mobile number, and I asked if he was coming, and she said yes, he was down at the village. Later, I'd come out of the living room where Janis was being interviewed. From a distance, I saw this tall distinguished looking man and guessed it was Henry. As I walked up to him, he saw me and said "Chet." I didn't reply but just continued walking until I reached him and gave him the biggest hug I could muster.

Anne has already posted a picture of Henry and I, so here's a picture of Janis and Henry during the "meet and greet".

I think the expression on Janis' face, is commensurate with a woman who realises she has blown her main chance, by forgetting not only the garlic necklace and the wooden stake and hammer...but also the silver bullets!

here's to another happy 2500yrs

I saw that! You mean I have to fight for my seat? Or sit on his lap? :p

I'll call you when I get back from the show so we can have a good old yarn about it.

And thanks for getting me the tickets, Henry.

The last time before I saw him, a lady who was watching the show from the side of the dress circle, went to the management and complained that a gentleman was sitting on a lady's lap! They looked again and there was no one there......seems it was the ghost of Charles Morton, theatre manager at the turn of the century!

Now I have a choice of either Ivor Novello or Charles Morton?

 ... NOT!

my stepmother was auditioned by Ivor Novello but her parents thought she should get a proper job :p

......and Anna Pavlova still dances on the stage from time to time!!

If you feel what you think is a draft in the theatre tonight Chet....don't assume that it's just the wind whistling......

.....quite right too David. Theatre is certainly Not a proper job!

.....If she really regrets it, it's a shame and I really feel for her. I have taken (as I guess we all have) some wrong turnings and missed opportunities and I'd love to go back and try again.

Still we all have our paths, the ones we are creating as we go.

Do you know what production your stepmother was auditioning for?

no Henry I don't actually remember any details- just that she had been noticed and Novello wanted to hear her .... to be honest not actuallly sure if the audition took place...

my relationship has always been difficult with her- when I was younger she was the archetypal horrible stepmother and treated me horribly- then when I was 20 she got my father to throw me out of the house for being gay... in recent years though she has mellowed considerably- she is now over 80 and I find myself with felings for her- not sure if I would say that feeling is love, but I now enjoy seeing her, tho because they live down in sussex i don't get many opportunities.

the subject of your thread "when was the first time...?" got me thinking about her, my dad and my real mother (who disappeared when I was 6), and I shall post there- but the question was so huge I needto take some time to think about it.....
