Well…what can I say?

I write this whilst listening to ‘Live at the Club Café’ for the first time.

To be honest, I’m very lost for words and at present unable to collect any thoughts together, due to being wrapped in a euphoric bubble of sublime beauty that is Janis’s voice singing to me in my mind. Or maybe it’s just still harmoniously ringing in my head from last night, like an echo from the shores of some far away wonderland that has now gone away until next time, but nonetheless will remain swept up in my memory of last nights sweet surrender, like crabs clawing onto every last note for fear of letting go.

Now, I’m not exactly a delicate little flower and as someone warned me on here sometime ago to take a box of tissues along, if only I’d taken that advice as literally as was intended. Anyway what makes a man a man, if a man can’t be subject to a little sweet surrender and be taken away from the usual blah cavalier approach? I now firmly believe Janis would even bring the English rugby team to their knees with her outstanding voice and charming humorous qualities that would leave any stand up comedian wondering if they’d chosen the right profession.

I probably need therapy after this - my first Janis concert, knowing that now if I wasn’t before, appearing totally obsessed or even besotted with her voice and music. I have been touched in many good ways by music, but nothing before has touched me so deeply on a spiritual level such as this.

I could go on and mention about the songs individually and meeting Janis for the first time, but I’ve found it really difficult to write what I’ve written so far. In truth, no words or pictures can express the way I’m feeling right now, as they just don’t do it any justice whatsoever.

Thank you Janis!

Rudies- It was a pleasure to meet you all

I never did buy you that beer I promised, Chet. Next time definitely! Sorry there wasn’t more time to have a chat with you.:(

Thanks for putting up with me sitting next to you Rowy, I hope I didn’t smell too much of cigarettes. You are a very warm and kind lady.;)

Pete ‘Superkings’ CC, next time the ciggie’s are on me. You’re a top bloke! Sorry if I was a little vacant during the interval when you were speaking to me, I was just largely bowled over at the time.

David UK – An amazing guy, what more can I say. Thanks for introducing me to all the other Rudies.:)

Anne (I think that’s your name, hit me if I’m wrong) the one who looks like the actress Sarah Lancashire. You are a blast! And I would prune your ‘bush’ anytime, the horticultural variety of course!

Des, you silly silly man! What were you thinking!!? That was a lovely description of your first time! We can all relate!! Enjoy Club Cafe!! Wave to all of us who were front and center, well actually front and a little to the side.

Hey Janis, maybe you should consider selling little packs of tissues along with your CD's at your gigs? You'd sell out for sure!!

That's ok, Des, since I don't drink (or try not to, due to a medical condition). The hardest stuff I drank throughout the weekend was fiery ginger beer from Tesco.

Des - don't worry, this euphoric bubble is a common Rudie condition caused by Live gigs and encounters with the lady herself. To quote from FINB - it is (definitely) better than crack, and you don't have to cook! However, it is an addiction from which there is no known cure - (thank God!) Embrace this addiction my friend - it will last for the rest of your (hopefully long) life! Ongoing indulgence of the addiction is recommended with exposure to Live gigs as often as possible. Saving is advised to cover necessary travel expenses from time to time. When Live gigs are unavailable, relax with a copy of Club Cafe and a good bottle of wine. Janismania DVD is also recommended in this way.

Welcome to the club!

Anna.

I agree with Anna.

Since I live so far from her usual tour route, I've decided I will see her at least once a year, and the nearer it is to my homebase, the better.

Thanks for the account of your Janis LIVE exposure, Des.

I recall the same effect from the one and only time I saw / met her too. I don't think it ever really goes away either! Thank goodness.

Des,

A great pleasure meeting you, and so very glad you relished your first 'live' Janis show. It was worth the cigarettes, honest.
