well with the weather being as it has here in NY over the last weeks i have just recently discovered something i probably would have been better off knowing sooner. with all the snow and the digging out. i had to dig out four times, the number of times i had to bring the dogs out on the day of the big storm, still it wasn;t until the nest day when preparing for work that i realized that i have no winter footwear. unlike out lovely queen eva, i have almost no footwear at all . i have 3 pair of adidas martial arts shoes ( one signed by janis) a pir of black shoes and a pair of brown shoes. NO BOOTS, dang have i got cold feet...and i'm not about to pay the prices they ask for those things! ( i went looking today, $90 for boots!!! that;s just crazy )
what is something you realized a little too late?

Oh poor Hoops! The problem with my footwear is that I can't throw anything away. So my boots are all old and the water gets in. High heels won't help me here! But at least they are war. Poor you!

What I realised too late? Ehm... Can't think of anything now. But it will come... :D

The other day when I drove home in my car I had to stop at the last traffic lights before reaching my street. Unfortunately the sun was shining directly my way and so I didn't realize soon enough that there was another car, a fat BMW, in front of me and I touched it very, very slightly with my car... but not slightly enough. The woman in the BMW realized it and almost got a nervous breakdown... even if neither her not I couldn't see any damage.

Mimi, I always think: "If you do damage to big fat cars than do it BIGTIME" Otherwise it's no fun :D I am sure Hoops and Sister_Rose feel the same way.

My trainers are falling to bits, and the other shoes (which I wore to Janis's Concert) are really comfy, but I still miss my trainers :(

Eva,
you're so right in general - but when I view the costs it would have caused to me... it's better this way...

But there are so many occasions I'd like to damage fat cars parking in my way when I'm walking or cycling...  :p

Mimi, wear shoes with steel toes. You can do a lot of damage with those...
(This proves my point that there are shoes for every occasion)

When it gets below zero (fahrenheit) as it does around here, plastic car panels will practically disintegrate if "bumped", as owners of Saturns often discover to their dismay.

Since so many cars now have plastic bumpers, a simple parking lot accident can leave a car looking as if it has been rammed quite solidly.

davem,
my dad found that out a few years back when he totalled his saturn sliding down a small hill into a stop sign. sighhhhh. but on the other hand my sister was broadsided by a guy in an old ford doing over 70 mph in her saturn and survived with minor cuts and bruises.

I was sideswiped this past summer by someone driving a cell phone while behind the wheel of a Saturn. In warm weather the plastic parts are quite durable--smashed my driver's side door right in but only rubbed a bit of paint off the other car.

To add insult to injury, she filed a claim with my insurance company in such a way that I was held at fault for the paint rub (in an allegedly "no-fault" state) and never got a cent to pull my door out. Naturally the cell phone had disappeared by the time the police came and the official version was that "he pulled right out in front of me". While it's been cold up here, I've been watching around town for white Saturns....I think I might fall down and injure one.
