I told you about my ex who stopped drinking. Well, he still doesn't drink (and I still don't smoke, by the way) so things are going well. It's been some months now and he says he hardly has cravings. He still has some wine in the refrigerator from his birthday in december and he says he doesn't feel like drinking it. I am so happy!
Instead of filling his days with beer he is now filling his days with Lolo, the beautiful little spanish boydog. As I have told you Lolo is a very scared and confused little puppy because his first six months were hell. Literally. Neglect and abuse. We are very grateful he could be saved from those circumstances. He is now about ten or eleven months old.
Lolo is my ex boyfriends first dog so he went on a kind of puppycourse with Lolo. More like a basecourse while his dog is older than the average puppy going to a course like that. They went to this course three evenings per week. With public transport and all. That scared Lolo a lot, but he has to get used to the city.
My ex is not only an alcoholic but he has also had several smaller heartattacks, a triple bypass operation, several small strokes, problems with his arteries and a bad liver. Some of these things are alcoholabuse related, some aren't. But his health is not very good. Therefor being so active with his dog is exhausting for him but also very good for him.
Last week they had their exams. And they passed. So we are very proud of Lolo now (and I am also proud of my ex) There are still some problems with the dog though; like his barking when the doorbell rings. He just can't accept when someone comes in the house.
Lolo goes through the entire repertoire to chase the trespasser away and have my ex's attention for himself. He threathens to bite (which he doesn't. Well, not untill now), barks, whines, etc. Also he suddenly wants to get cuddled a lot by my ex.
The dog takes a break from his performance when the visitor feeds him snacks. But after that he starts all over again. My ex tried some things out but it doesn't really works. So he wants some extra lessons. I owe him money anyway, he says. An amount enough for two lessons. Joker... :o
My ex will now take a little break, he said. And will keep practicing what they have learned so far. After that they will take lessons once a week in an advanced class. Lolo is really starting to trust and accept my ex as his owner.
I am very glad about all of this. For several reasons, as you might understand. This is so good for both of them. It's like they are saving eachother.
