You mentiond , Maria Mulduar(MM). Please excuse me........um....I hope I'm not bad mannered, but......
how old are you! I'm 63..... on March.
I listened to LP's records of MM, 1967! Long before I lislened to Janis Ian.....1972? (That I knew.)
MM was actually Maria Mulduer was Maria D'Amato....the record was "Jug Band Music", with Jim Kweskin... etc.
Actually, I met Pat had the record first befor me.........
Then, Maria married to Geoff Mulduar, 1968. That's when Pat and I got married.........so, the resord, called "Garden of Joy", with MM (and Jim Kweskin), was a present, from the Devonport Folk Club. ( I was the President...Ha Ha!)
Any way, I'm still a fan, ever since! The 2 albums I mentiod, and 3 LP's........than converted to CD,s...........and.....15 all together. Hmm.........I'm hoping a CD, "Southern Winds". (I think that's right?) for a present, (for Pat) on my birthday!!
I think that MM is a wonderful, beautiful, singer.....OK?
But Janis Ian is....wondesful, beautiful.......and a genion!!

Whew........this took about 2 hours to type out! But, at least, I'm setter bit quicker!!

See you later...............Kiwi Mike

Mike:

I'm a long time fan of Maria's and the Jug Band as well. I have most of the band's albums.

My absolute favorite song that they/she did was Richland Woman Blues.

Nice to know there are others out there still listening!

Mike,

I'm 47, just a whippersnapper - I became a Maria Muldaur fan when she had her big hit, "Midnight at the Oasis" in the 1970s. That album - "Maria Muldaur" has a lot of great songs on it. I also like "Waitress in a Doughnut Shop" and "Sweet Harmony." I have the "Southern Winds" LP - I should get the CD.

I have seen her perform live several times - the last time was about two years ago, when she came to Annapolis, MD. She always puts on a great show. It's funny though, every time I have seen her perform live, she is NEVER happy with the sound man, and is constantly telling him between songs to make adjustments. I suspect she goes through quite a few of them. . .

Maria Muldaur did the soundtrack for the Jane Fonda/Peter Boyle movie, Steelyard Blues around 1972 or 73....that was when I first heard her and fell in love with her voice.....Midnight at the Oasis came out shortly after and I thought it was the coolest song ever. I haven't listened to her in a long time.....I should go through my old LP's...I know she's in there somewhere......:D

Annnnapolis , MD. But, what is the state called? After all, I’m only a Kiwi!!
“Midnight at…..” Loved that as well! And “My Tennessee Mountain Home”. I first the LP was on 1973? But, when I was only 5 or 6 years old, my sister—19,20 or so…..lived on a farm. About 1950. (At the time, there was no electricity….well, VERY primitive!!) But, I really loved it, and great memories. So, “My Tennessee Mountain Home”, sentimental, but …well, great memories.
MM…so you have seen Maria several times…
Grr………….I,m so Jealous!!! I think that MM came only once….1972/3…..but I could’nt go.
Sob, sob…………

A friend of mine, 20 years ago, saw a video of “Steelyard Blues”, and David said that it was
“pretty good!” Just tomorow, I went on to the computer to have look. Unfortunately, no available!! Only second hand, in America!!

Well, now it’s time to have a rest!
