Paul, I think your analysis on the original thread, of the motivations of Bush are most incisive. The conviction of "Crimes against Humanity" rest uneasily when heard from the lips of leaders who use "Extraordinary Rendition" to forward the march of "The Good" against "The Bad".
Ok - perhaps that doesn't matter (blind eyes turning) Only a few planes worth of "The Bad" off to be Tortured for "The Good". Saddam called them "The Infidel" but that must be a lie. He was wrong in calling "Us" the Infidel because we Know we are The "Good". As usual God is getting involved on both sides of the conflict. Perhaps God is the Puppet; or at least our concepts of him.
After all, Saddam killed and tortured 1000's, against a few planes worth of miserable humanity. Look again at the pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and weep at the suffering created in the quest for "The Good". www.gensuikin.org/english/photo.html
Yes David, like yourself,I smell a rat.
Talking about politicians, over here there is a lot of softly softly, eggshell creeping going on. Tony Blair is, I think, still on his freebie holiday in the Gibb mansion....(sir robin gibb?) He and Robin are no doubt comparing smiles.
Maggie Beckett is doing a great juggling act between deploring "The Bad" and stating that Britain does not condone the death penalty. Is this a case of The Good, together with the Not so Good, claiming victory against The Bad? ("I'm gooder than you, so keep in line and remember that because I'm gooder than you, that makes you Badder than me - so watch out!)
David Cameron is thinking about returning to university ("I mean chaps...It's all a bit 'real' don't you think?...")
The only strong reactions came from Menzies Campbell and Tony Benn.
I'll type a transcript of Benn's interview on BBC this afternoon, after a break.
