The "Seven Top Artists-Thread" reminded me of this live cd. I like it very much, not only because it has introduced a certain Janis Ian to me...

It is Joan Baez' "Ring them Bells. Featuring performances with Mary Black, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mimi Farina, Tish Hinojosa, Indigo Girls, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Dar Williams and Janis.

There are wonderful duets on it... Janis and Joan are singing "Jesse" together...

I was not into duets albums before hearing that beautiful recording. The
great news is that in 02/2007, a two-disc set of Ring Them Bells will be
released on the UK Prosper (I think) label. Included are six additional songs:
"Geordie," "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," "Gracias a la Vida," The Water is Wide"
(w/The Indigo Girls), and "Stones in the Road" (w/Mary Chapin Carpenter).

I was hoping for the inclusion of "American Tune" from the five-day Bottom
Line shows, but no complaints over here.

The sixth song I forgot to add is "Love Song to a Stranger."

The 2 CD set is to be released on Proper Records. Details can be found at http://www.proper-records.co.uk/home.php. Unfortunately there seems to be only one song with Janis. But it will be worth getting. Joan is one of my other favourite singers

That's great news Michael! Thanks for the information. Hopefully it'll be released in Europe at the same time!

I picked this news from the above mentioned website.
