I go to Borders for music, books and coffee. They usually have one copy each of BTL, FINB and BS. If I buy a copy it's replaced by the time I return. I don't know why I always check to make sure they have Janis' music available, but I do; just a silly habit. What's in stock at your store?

I do the same, Elliot. In every music store I'm in. Every.

I've never seen Breaking Silence in a store, though. I've seen FINB, BTL, and Billie's Bones. I once saw a God & The FBI, but that was in the Virgin Megastore in New York City. Such a large store is bound to have nearly everything! (Heck, they even had an obscure artist from Italy that I listen to!)

So do I, Elliott :) Usually, the stores have several JI albums in stock, mostly FITNB, God & the FBI, Breaking Silence, Between the Lines, WWAN and Night Rains. Lots of fans here! :D

Glad I'm not the only one striken by this quirk! :)

Usually I find BTL on the shelves, and a copy of FINB.

Yep, I do the same. And I am usually shocked if they have nothing Janis. But luckily it doesn't happen all that often.

that I do the same but unfortunately there's only one big store in town that has at least two Janis CDs in stock. I check that each time I go there although I have both of the at home.
My problem in Germany has always been to find Janis' music at all and there it is again, my QUESTION OF THE YEAR: Why is Janis almost unknown in Germany??? At least it seems to me!

here in Nottingham you'll usually find FINB, Between The Lines and WWAN... occasionally Billie's Bones or Souvenirs.

There's one major shop here (Virhin Megastore) where they usually have a good range of Janis stuff for some reason.

Borders here usually has Between The Lines, Folk Is The New Black, Breaking Silence and Billie's Bones. Barnes & Noble usually has a bigger selection than that, including the rerelease of the Verve recordings (the title of which escapes me at the moment).

I always check to see what's in stock of Janis, and also of Melanie. Sadly, with Melanie, there's usually nothing at Borders, and Barnes & Noble never has anything but a greatest hits.

Maybe, if there's a file divider with her name on it, but nothing in the file, it's a good thing? Then the thing to do is bring that to the manager's notice and tell them it's time to reorder Janis Ian!

I rarely go to the "BIG CITY" and there are no good record stores here in the styx. I do almost all my CD buying on line now, either direct from the artists, or via Overstock.com, which has good pricing and an outstanding collection, including lots of Janis.

And, Amy, www.Half.com is a great place to get a bargain on new or older stuff that might be hard to find elsewhere. I've found some great old CDs and books there, either brand new or slightly used in perfect condition. Always worth a look-see.

I was at a recordstore today and they didn't have anything from Janis. Come to think of it, they didn't have all that many CD's at all. And most of what they had was crap. I didn't buy anything.
