The only one? More Janis Fans in Germany?

Hi, my name is Mimi and I'm from Duesseldorf, Germany. Having enjoyed two of Janis' shows in Holland (Kerkrade and Zoetermeer) what is quiet near from my town I wonder if there are more Janis Fans in Germany? My impression ist that there are much more of us in the Netherlands than here. I would like to get into contact with other fans in Germany.

Hi, welcome Mimi. I'm not from Germany but from the Netherlands. I noticed too that there are no or little fans in Germany on the message board.
And Janis is never performing in your country (two years ago she had a radio interview in studio Bremen, that's all I think).
So I think there are not enough fans for the German theatres to book Janis.

But I cannot believe you are the only one in the whole country.

Here in Holland there are lots of fans. Last Saturday there was a living room concert by Janis in Nijmegen, I was there too. 17 people in a circle with Janis playing and singing, wonderful! :) See the message board, thread: Janis in Nijmegen. There are pictures!

Hi Jan,
well, it really is a pity that so few, almost no one knows Janis' music here in Germany. I've listened to singer/songwriters since I was a girl of twelve (now 39) but I discovered Janis' music only half a year ago after a Joan Baez show at Duesseldorf when I studied the lyrics of the Baez-CDs and found Janis' name several times. I started to do some research, bought a lot of CDs and discovered a new universe... People in Germany really don't know what they are missing and I still wonder WHY nobody knows her music. I have a lot friends who really know a lot of music, some of them musicians themselves but Janis was totally new for them too.
Let's wait and see if there are any others on the board.

Welcome to the Janis Ian messageboard. A lovely place to be. Sometimes Janis herself writes something too. We talk about Janis and her music here. About life in general, about our own lifes. Good and bad things. Sometimes we strongly disagree about things and sometimes we agree wholeheartedly. We post about things we have seen on the news. Well, all kinds of things.

Sometimes we are being very silly. Under our own names or under an 'alter ego' who everybody knows. I am for instance the Pirate Queen. And Redjack is also a Pirate. Other than that we are relatively sane people. Well, I can of course only speak for myself here... (the rest is nuts!!!) And it's just fun to be here. What we all have incommon is that we are fans of Janis Ian. It's nice to have someone from Germany on the MB too. I hope you will find other fans in Germany too...
