Just for the world at large, it is not in John's job definition to close threads, or remove postings, when message boarders request it. That would take up far too much of his time!
If you post something and regret it, simply go to the Edit function and replace it with a blank space, or an explanation.
If you want an entire thread closed, sorry. We do that rarely, and we have to be extremely irritated to go that far.
Please stop requesting that he close your threads, remove your posts, etc. We've all got enough to do without that!! Feel free to report inappropriate posts as per usual.
Thanks.

Only in exchange for a home cooked meal, Elliot...
Is he in for Hungarian gulash? My windows look terrible... ;)

My three windows side by side cover 15 x 4 feet large. Guess that would require cooking up a banquet.

If I wanted to (which I don't), am I able to delete my account on this site? I have searched the FAQ's and some of my account pages and can't find a way to accomplish this.

For various reasons, we will not delete any accounts that have been at all active on the board...even the spammers. The main reason is sort of geeky. If an account is deleted, then all threads that have been posted to will have missing attributes in the database that runs this whole thing. That would be very bad and cause instability, so the board would have to be culled of all related threads. That in turn would not be fair to the rest of the posters, as well as would create a lot of extra work for me.
Creating extra work for any of the staff is considered a *very bad thing*
From an admnistrative standpoint, we also need to keep the information around, as we have had to refer back to items in the past. Deletion of the user makes some searches impossible.
What I can do and will do is ban a user, if they have really managed to screw up on a cosmic level. For the most part, though, this board is expected to be self governing and does a good job. If I have to step in, someone better grab a mop, because it's going to get very messy.
Having said all that, if you should choose to leave and want your information removed, go up to the "User CP" link in the upper left, and delete, change or otherwise obfuscate your information, then leave the message board. What information that you cannot change is only visible to the administrators on this board.
