Thank you all for having listened to my interpretation of Janis' wonderful "From Me To You", one of my favorite Janis Ian songs. SF Bill, I don't know how you came to find me, but thank you for sharing it with others. Those of you who liked my rendition, I thank you for taking the time out to check me out. It was recorded live at a club in Philadelphia named the "Tin Angel". Those of you who didn't care for it, I did my very best; it's not perfect, but I'm not perfect. Of course, there is no one like Janis Ian, doing her own wonderful songs.
I have been a fan of Janis Ian since I first saw her when I was in the 4th Grade. I was born and bred in NYC and there was a popular TV show called "The Lloyd Thaxton Show" on channel 11. It was a popular music show. Janis was about 14 years old and she came on and did "Society's Child" live (yeah, once upon a time, people actually had to "cut it" on TV). It left a very deep impression on me. I remember thinking then that I wanted to do the same thing (or at least try to) one day. The rest as they say is history.
If you like my rendition of Janis' song, you might like some of my music. Feel free to check it out on my website www.lilianel.org or at www.itsaboutmusic.com In case anyone is wondering, Janis wrote me personally and recommended I post something here. She is very gracious and I'm glad to say I have met her and we have been in touch throughout the years. I'm still hoping one day I'll get to work with Janis (a duet); at the very least open for her. I could die with a smile on my face after that.
She's an amazing musician and woman and has been a huge influence on me as I am sure she has influenced everyone here in many different ways.
Thanks again.

Hi Lili. How wonderful to see you posting here!
Yes, Janis is so amazingly gracious. That doesn't surprise us Rudies a bit that she has been supportive of you. I'd love to see the 2 of you on the same bill one day!
I hope you'll stick around and post here from time to time.
One to another, Marcia :)
Hi Lili!
Welcome to Janisland! I like your style very much. Do you ever get to the Bay area?? (San Franciscoish?)

Wow Lili, thanks for making this personal. I am always impressed by who Janis knows and likes. I found your songs to be great and your voice different and refreshing. I now have someone new to listen to! :)

Interesting to hear this version, thanks for posting the link SFBill. I agree that there's a SLIGHT similarity in style and timbre to Armatrading.
Lili, you have good taste in role models, as both Janis and Joan A. are singers I hold in highest esteem. I'm constantly surprised that there aren't MORE covers of Janis's wonderful songs.
Thanks again for posting the link, Bill. And best wishes for continued music-making to Lili...
Cheers,
CD Matthew

WOW!!!!
What a treat to see you here, Lili!
I love your album Hi-Octaine Coffee--and I just received your 1993 album Laughed Last yesterday....its really wonderful, too--a much more acoustic sound than Hi-Octaine Coffee.
To answer your question --I accidently found you when I received a Joan Armatrading Google Alerts---I checked into it and voila!--I have some Might T fine new music! Here's the Google alert. Don't you love accidents that work out like this?
