HI, rudies.:D

Have again asked Southern Counties Radio, to add their name to this list, as she will be in Brighton area, where they are based, next weekend, for the LRC & concert.

no Lin we call them toilets! :p

I remember the first time I was in New York with Roger, visiting his sister. We went to a restaurant there and i asked where the toilet was. The waiter had nho idea what I was talking about. :D

How is this even possible? Is there one central place where these shows are recorded as the locations jump all over the country?!

Wes
04-09-2006, 09:18 AM
found a way of cloning herself ! She could be the next Dr. Who

Mike UK
04-09-2006, 11:28 AM
Wes is joking, of course. Everyone knows that cloning is illegal in the UK. That was very silly, Wes.

No, I shalll personally be ferrying Janis from interview to interview in an extremely fast helicopter. :)

We do have a backup plan, though ... if the 'copter breaks down, she'll just have to do all the BBC interviews from Broadcasting House, and take a cab to the Radio London studio on Tuesday afternoon.

And on Thursday morning? ... Just don't ask.

Mike ;)

Goodness! What a busy schedule... I wish you the energy to do all this, Janis.

There goes my dream of being a rock and roll star. I thought it was all about the things Ian Dury sang about in his famous song..................?

Gisli, wasn't that "Hit me with your rhythmstick"? :p

I think Janis is doing all her interviews at Broadcasting House. I might pop over there tomorrow and see if they'll let me say hello to her. :D

Racheldiva

The Dr Who comment was quite apt, because you would need a Tardis to travel to each place and keep within that tight schedule! :D

Other singers might do this, but not our Janis!

"Hit me with your rhythm stick"

No Eva, Gisli is referring to Ian Dury's "Sex and drugs and rock&roll."

LOL LOL

Most of the interviews (all the BBC ones) will be done at Broadcasting House. And no, you can't just do a couple and feed them to everyone else; they're all regional, with their own regional specific questions and areasof interest. Plus, a lot of them want particular songs, live.

One of your interviewers today is our local girl Diane Oxberry, I wrote to her last week, so she's clued up on Rudies!! :D
It's wonderful to know you're here safely, I can't wait to see you on Sunday, and Monday... and... and....

I just "listened again" to the BBC Radio Solent interview.

Janis played "Joy" live on the radio..... WOW!

and WOW,

and, sniff, WOW again!

Even the interviewer was speechless.
Thank You, Janis.

listening to the Radio Solent interview now... the interviewer said Janis has been "musically taking a switchblade to our hearts for 40 years" and Janis said "hmm- well said!"

such enthusiasm from an interviewer is great.....

Wish there were some way for us folks across the pond here in the US to listen in on some of these interviews and live radio performances! Do any of the stations have online streaming versions of their shows???

Thinking of all you UK Rudies as the anticipation builds toward the shows this weekend!

The BBC has most of it's radio shows on a "Listen Again" link.

For example, to listen to the Radio Solent show, use this link, then click on Richard Cartridge's show... (day as on the list Janis gave above), and you should hear the interview

http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/radiosolent/

Same goes for the Ulster one we heard today.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/radioulster/index.shtml
look for the show "Just Jones" at 3.00pm today

The Ken Bruce Shows (five days of them) "Track of my Years" we think are going to be aired next week... on BBC Radio 2. Will post more then - if it is next week - there will be a list of the songs Janis has chosen too.

as Anne said, you can listen to almost all the interviews online- go to www.bbc.co.uk and look for "local stations" (I think) and you can find the shows that way.

The BBC Media Player is quite good, so for example if the show starts at 2pm and Janis says she will be on at 2.45pm-3.30pm you can jump forward in 15 minute segments.

I particularly recommend the excellent interview by Tom Robinson last night on BBC Radio 6 Music. Tom said at the end of the interview that if anyone went to see Janis live and wasn't satisfied he would personally refund their money!

If you have trouble with the BBC Player (I never have done but some people have) you can also listen on Real Player or Windows media Player- so a choice of 3 options.....

let me know if you have any problems- I'm always using the Listen Again feature on BBC stations, it's very god.

Just about to listen live to the BBC Wales interview.....

ps janis- any news about the Woman's Hour broadcast?

Well, I must say I'm glad to see all the replies that reflect many of the same questions that are swirling around in my little head...how on earth does anyone do so many interviews and live broadcasts in that amount of time???!!! And as a singer I have to pose this...on a day that I sing, I try not to talk to anyone to "save my voice" (let alone cough or laugh - horrors). Do you have "Teflon" vocal chords, Janis? It truly boggles my mind how you can interview so extensively, AND sing live...hot tea and honey?...any helpful hints? Love ya. Mean it. Aunt Becky
