I'm not too familiar with Julie Gold, but Bobby and Jimmy are musical heroes to me. I'd love to know what went on here. Certainly all of you are independant music makers, but was there talk of collaborations?

Julie Gold wrote the song "From a Distance" recorded by Nanci Griffith and Bette Midler and the song "Heaven" recorded by Nanci Griffith on her Late Night Grande Hotel album a few years ago.

Julie Gold actually made a pretty decent recording of "From A Distance" before Nanci Griffith and Bette Midler made it famous. It's worth hearing just to hear the difference between the songwriter's interpretation and that of others who recorded it later.

I'm thinking that was at an American Express-sponsored songwriter's show at the Algonquin Hotel, sometime in the early 90's. Can you tell me where you found it? I'd love a bigger copy.
