Mrs. Cloggie used to say my music taste was rubbish. Wailing Women she used to say when I was listening to Mary Black, Indigo Girls, Janis and the likes. She would whine and turn it off in favour of Flaming Lips, Matchbox 20, Foo Fighters etc. I think the only thing we had in common was Crowded House.

But recentely she has started to actually LISTEN to the Indigo Girlls and Janis' music. She only started to listen to it because she is coming with me to the Birmingham show on 30 April and she felt it would be good to know some of the songs. Just to please me.

And she has now totally changed her mind. So much so, it is almost driving me nuts. She listens to nothing else at the moment. FITNB is on the stereo, in the car, on the PC and on her MP3 player.

She has read every letter of this website, all the articles, all the news updates etc. Needless to say she is very impressed with the music, Janis' personal involvement with us all and Janis' views on life, her carreer etc.

She can not wait to see Janis in Birmingham on April 30th. Neither can I obviously.

Anyone else here know people who used to dismiss certain music out of hand but then changed their minds?

What do you feed her? Mrs. Margay is still complaining about the amount of women in my CD collection and utters meaningful sighs whenever I put one of them on.

She once came with me to hear Janis live. By the time I was moved to tears she was getting anoyed and asking me when we could leave. Next time I'm taking my mom.

PS I love her dearly though

I'd like to know what you are feeding her too!
Mrs. Dar...aka Peggy likes Janis well enough, although she does roll her eyes at my devotion, as does everyone else.........losers, what do they know huh?

It took four years for Rikki to like listening to Janis. What did it for her was seeing the PBS airing of "Live at the Club Cafe!" Once she saw Janis' talent and wit, she was hooked. She saw Janis play her guitar during "Take No Prisoners," and, I swear, her mouth was hanging open!! Now, she is a huge fan, and she has as much trouble as I do finding other music that even closely compares. :D
