View Full Version : Janis, do we HAVE to follow this rule?
>>Also, please note that the taking of photographs and all other forms of recording are strictly prohibited during concerts at McCabe's.<<
What's your feeling about this Janis? Do you think this is strictly enforced? You know how I love to take a million photos of you on stage. :(

Dar...
If all else fails call the manager and tell him your one of the official Rudie photographers for the web site and request they check with Janis... If that fails threaten violence...:o

Ps... Maybe we could get Janis or SuperKimbe to award Rudie Press Id's allowing photographs for the Website....Available for a slight donation to the Pearl Foundation of course:cool:

Dar, I don't know. I'd say bring the camera, and we'll tell them it's okay with us, but at the end of the day it's up to the theater management.

Hey, I'd love a Rudie Press ID--perhaps a laminate? No idea, alas, when I might have another chance to use it, but it'd be cool to have around.
Those of us who attended the UK LRC in April did get VIP IDs. Are they valid in the States?

Chet, after all of the miles you covered....they had better be!

Heh... You mean I have to dig up the VIP ID? If it made it accross the country with me it is buried. If not... it is still in the millions of piles in my room back in CT.
Oh well, I usually forget to take pictures anyway, no reason for me to be VIP as everyone gets to meet Janis.

SongDragon, you don't need the VIP card. You are a Dragon. You ARE the Violence PA Randy wants to threat the management with! As Donkey said in Shrek: "I have a Dragon and I'm not afraid to use it. I'm a donkey on edge!"
If nothing else your firebreath can function as flashlight when people want to take pictures. Please be careful not to burn the theatre down or sizzle away peopl's hairdo's.

There are always those delightful pens with built-in digital cameras. Though I haven't the faintest idea how you get the lens pointed at what you want to photograph.
For that matter, there are some great microphones for Minidisc recorders and the like which look just like ballpoint pens.
Information offered "for academic purposes only"....
Love the idea of "Card-Carrying Rudies", Randy. Perhaps we should organize. Should there be different degrees of membership and initiations? The latter could either be one heck of a lot of fun or very, very scary.

I'm interested. Tell me more...

Dar,
When I saw Janis at the Birchmere last March, they made the same announcement before the show, and even confiscated Sister Rose's camera! I managed to hold onto mine, tucked discretely under my jacket. I had no intention of using it unless they announced it would be allowed, which they did do, right before Janis came on stage. So Sister Rose ran out to the lobby and got her camera back, and everyone was happy. So I would say bring it along, but be prepared to surrender it (unless you are sneaky like me) and hope that if Janis tells them it's OK, they will do the same.

Maybe I am a bit stupid in these things... but why would they object if the artist herself doesn't object??? I don't get it...

(2 of them, actually...I'll bet they would have done that to The Pirate Queen)

Well... my opinion is that such cards would need to be approved and released by meeting whatever criteria was established by Janis and the powers that be...
Different degrees? Nooooo, I for one would not choose to be considered a better or worse rudie then anyother rudie...
The advantages to being a rudie card holder in good standing...
a voluntary status renewable annually... I for one would have no problem paying $10.00 a year to the Foundation to be an official rudie...Nor would Betty... Hell I'd be willing to even design the ID Card, though there are many here far more qualified.... (Janis heres your next contest)... Design the Official Rudie Membership in good standing Card...
1) Pride about your choice of artist and music
2) Pride about supporting the Pearl Foundation
3) Pride about sharing your enthusism with the
other dedicated rudies as well as recruiting
new rudies to the KLUMP*
4) Learning and earning the friendship of other
rudies at such events like the picnic, Janis-
mania or either of the Club Cafe events
5) Pride of your place within the Janis Cyber-
community where one can go to offer or ask
for support... Not to judge or be judged...
and just as important rather then flame, a
place enjoy others though they may be different
FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY...
Thats about what I would envision...
*KLUMP..... Meaning flock of rudies
Soooo at $10.00 to the foundation if that was the price How many would go for it? Would this be a cost effective program for Janis and the staff? I would think at most administrative costs would be under $1.00 (Printing/Handling/Postage) leaving a net of about $9.00 for the foundation...
Just an initial thought.... Can we find 100 rudies interested?
Would you buy in?
1.... Betty
2.... Randy
3.... Saxman (we got his) :p
As an after thought...I started a new thread so if your going to add your name please do it on the thread Official Rudie Card Research so we have just one list...
next???

Moi? BWAHAHAHA!! Of COURSE I was gonna sneak it in....bigger venues that this have told me I couldn't, and failed miserably. Besides, what about camera phones?
Peggy got me a brand spanking new digicamera, much much MUCH smaller than the one I snuck in to previous shows, so I'm am gold. Plus I've figured out how to record with my little MP3 player.....good grief, I think I'm getting dangerously close to geeklike! LOL
Janis, my concern is if they are really serious about this rule, that there would be some sort of repercussion to you if we were naughty.

A fine idea, Kathleen! Threaten them with banishment to the sluice room if they bother any Rudies. Geez....they must think we're....normal or something.
