I am, at the moment, in Hampton Hotel (Roanoke, VA) for maybe this night. My sister is going to school at Hollins University, and since she is doing soccer preseason she won't need us here after tomorrow. This was an eleven and a half hour drive with a very cramped car. I don't believe airplanes to be too cramped--that's just to show you how cramped the car is. Dad found all sorts of reasons not to let me drive (but I really didn't mind as it was trafficky).

My friends are going to colleges in Connecticut (home), Vermont, and Tennessee. I have finally decided that I'll do community college for a year before transferring or deciding on anything (though that meant I had to decide between two community colleges it was possible for me to live near). I am going to Las Vegas, driving this car (because if Dad and I both aren't home no one will use it) all the way accross the country. This is this car's second such trip. Who knows?

Siobhan and Carol were planning me a dog (*rolls eyes extensively*) because I won't know anyone there. I may not be completely helpless at making friends (talking rather than writing), but they don't want to take any chances that I'll be lonely. I laughed at them. This should be interesting, and I'm sure as long as I can write I won't be lonely.

Song:

Does your sister ride horses at all ( I know you do). Hollins has a terrific riding program. The woman that run it was my instructor at camp in Maine many moons ago!

What school in Vermont is your friend going to?

Caroline rides, but she doesn't think she'll be doing much riding at Hollins (she doesn't think she's good enough, which we keep telling her has nothing to do with it... she loves it, so she should do it). We did, at least, convince her to take her riding gear down. We waved goodbye to her early this afternoon.

My friend is going to Greenmountain College in Vermont.

As the title suggests we are now stuck in Nashville. The car hasn't "died" yet, but it is limping. We need to find a Volkswagon dealer, so while we didn't think we would be staying the night here, now we are. I saw my friend, her family is still here, but they are leaving tomorrow. She is at Bellmont University. Met her roommate.

Basically we're sort of planning our trip out West around things to break up the monotany. Meeting friends I've never met, maybe family I've never met, and seeing friends off to college.

Really breaks up the driving, though still the long hours are getting to me.

P.S. Updates about the "car situation" tomorrow. I really don't want to be stuck here! Sometimes sitting around is worse than the monotany of travel... at least I know I'm getting to where I'm going the other way!

Stuck in Nashville?! Gosh, there's lots of stuff to do there. Well, maybe you aren't into the Grand Ol' Opry!! Have you run into Janis yet?!?!

Marcia ;)

Actually, I was in Opry (at least the mall) for a little while. However the Volkswagon dealership is outside of town, so we're far away from Opry and near a mall. I'm not particularly a mall person anyway. At the moment it is one fifty-four p.m. and I'm sitting in a Starbucks. The car won't be done until around five. Dad ran out of book and is on to me... At this pace, if I had kept reading, I would be out of book with five more hours of reading (not hard to accomplish in these circumstances). That would be bad... Very bad.

No, Nashville is huge. No chance of running into Janis. Lol. That would be too strange to comment on.
