Well, we had an AWESOME AWESOME time this past week! We rode over 1500 miles total for the week and it was such a great trip. We hit some rain here and there but no days that ruined our plans for sure!
We went from Kennebunk Maine to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada the first day and got to visit with my husband's family on his late mom's side.
His aunt made lunch for everyone and we spent a couple of hours there with other relatives as well. It was a very special visit.
On Tuesday we left Saint John and headed to Prince Edward Island. The Confederation Bridge that connects New Brunswick to PEI was quite the ride. It’s over 8 miles and probably took about 10 minutes to cross. Spectacular views and our son even saw us on the web site’s Web Cam!! I called just a few minutes before we were crossing so he went online to see if he could spot us and did! That was kinda cool.
PEI is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, one day was not enough to see as much as the island as we would’ve liked. But the red cliffs at Cavendish are breathtaking.
On Wednesday we left PEI, crossed the bridge again, and headed all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine! That was probably our longest ride, mostly because we it took us an hour to travel a little over a mile, sitting in heavy traffic, to get to the border and cross back into the good ole USA!
But we made it to Bar Harbor by 8pm that night, went into town, ate, drank and had a great evening out.
On Thursday morning we went up Cadillac Mountain on the bikes – beautiful view – and traveled around the Park Loop Road through Acadia National Park. Then later in the day, we left Bar Harbor and headed up towards Moosehead Lake area, stayed with friends that evening, had a blast – ate too much and drank TOOOOOOOOOO much! I don't remember the ride we took into the woods to find moose..... oh my.... and there were none spotted I hear.
On Friday morning we traveled around the Moosehead area, to Jackman, Maine, just a few miles from the Canadian border, down Route 201 along the Kennebec River….beautiful along there as well. And then finally home by evening.
It was a great week, beautiful scenery, and we got to share it with good friends!
So this was the LONG version to just say “I'm back from our vacation!” LOL!!
And you may not believe it, but HONESTLY, I've thought a LOT of all the Rudies at the picnic and hoping to hear ALL about that REAL SOON!!!!
