I have a good friend who works for the TSA. He sent me this news blurb this morning. Air passengers are not being allowed to carry any sort of liquid containers on to the airplane, not even bottled water. There are some significant travel delays, especially out of Heathrow where the incident occurred. I hope all our European travelers are already here. I know I'll be getting to the airport even earlier than I had planned tomorrow.

Now i feel a certain urge to annoy. I just want to go to Heathrow with a water bottel to delay some random flight.

But really certai liquids can be really dangerous for example Vodka burns really well you could make an molkotov koktail out of that. I've heard that it's quite popular in Russia. But i'm no expert.

I'm not saying that water can be dangerous but it does save some time to ban all liquids instead of having to have to inspect evry single luggage that the passenger brings with them.

But this is the world that we live in, no matter how you look at it.

You can bet that within a week, every airport will have a kiosk or a bank of vending machines in the "arrivals" area where one can buy shampoo, conditioner toothpaste, hair gel, nail polish and polish remover, and every other imaginable banned liquid. Somebody's going to make a fortune....

I've actually wondered about this for some time, as there are any number of liquids which, alone or in combination with others, will produce serious dangerous reactions, if not major flames or an explosion (Sani-Flush and bleach or ammonia and bleach give off toxic gases when combined--and no, I'm not going to tell you how to make anything that goes boom).

Of course, if one bans everything from aircraft that could conceivably be used to cause a fire or explosion, we will eventually have planeloads of naked passengers with no carry-on luggage at all (just watch the rush for the in-flight magazines! Not to mention blankets). It is possible with relative ease to convert any cotton clothing into a quite powerful explosive which to my knowledge is undetectable with current security equipment and can be detonated by any flame source or spark.

And sooner or later, I fear, some idiot who isn't afraid to die in the process with realize just that and decide to give it a try.

That would certainly erase a bit of the line between first class and coach! After all, if everyone's naked, it doesn't matter where you're seated--you're all still in your birthday suits.

Couldn't agree more Gummi.

Are you sure you're 14? You seem wise beyond your years.

It's all we have on the news here. Apparently there were plans for some terrorists to blow up nine or 10 aeroplanes mid air. I think, and I certainly hope, it is all being greatly exaggerated, as usual.
