Two-page article over at AfterEllen.com.

Three pictures from different periods of her career.

And a three-sentence intro that says:

Go ahead. Download some free Janis Ian tunes. She wants you to.

Oh, the link to the article:

That's a great article, Chet. Thank you for posting it.

Wow, the board looks somehow....different! ;)

From the same article:

Now 54 with striking white locks blown upward like flames ...

Oh yeah ...

Yeah, Marcia...no more flaps, rataplans and paradiddles...but I'll bet we'll be back in all our glory before too long, if John has anything to do with it!

This board seems a lot more stable...I like not being told I'm not logged in everytime I change pages! LOL

And WOW! 9 Grammies! I'd like to see a picture of Janis posed amongst them sometime. That would be a great publicity shot! Then let people say, "I've never heard of her"!! or something equally inane...they won't dare for fear of looking pretty silly. Actually, I hear people say more that they didn't know she was still recording and touring, and they were delighted to hear she was doing both, especially if she was playing somewhere near their neck of the woods. I've had 2 or 3 friends go or plan to go to concerts...nice.

*hums that there are seventeen threads on the new messageboard so far*

Wow, love the article Chet! Good quote from it, too. That is one of the things that brought a lot of us here, it is the reason I had three of her songs (just enough to get hooked) on my computer by the time I was sixteen.

Well, my brother's reaction when I told him she was going to be performing in Singapore last year:

You mean she's still around?

Hee hee...I've heard that comment made, too, Chet...what they don't realize is that she started so young and she's still much younger than people think.
That train still runs!

She had better be younger than they think (though I have heard that comment before) because I want to be able to introduce my kids to her (not only her music) someday, and I'm not planning on having kids until I'm finished with college at least! Not that I'm planning since I'm not planning on even dating anyone for a while...

Chet - The comment I hear most of the time when I say I'm going to see Janis in concert is "I thought she was dead." Where's that come from??? Nope, she's alive and well and making great music is what I tell them.

Bat - Janis has been nominated for 9 Grammies and won twice I believe. Both for Between the Lines.

I thought that article was wrong when it said she'd WON 9 Grammies!
Still, I think that posing with a couple wouldn't hurt her image any...not that there's anything wrong with her image; she's pretty cute, with or without Grammies. :D

I think the site actually lists what all the nominations are for somewhere. The five for BTL, 1 or two for Breaking Silence, 1 for the duet with Mel Torme, and others. I'm sure I got the staright story right here.
