I have leads on inexpensive motels in Chicago and the Cedarsburg area. We can't make the Greenlake concert though. Anyway, give me a day or so and I can post info on motels. As for tickets, I guess we will all have to get on the phone and find out!! If I find out something first, I'll let ya know! Don't worry!!!

We've bought our tickets for Cedarburg. They are only available through phone orders at 262-376-6161. The box office is only open from 3pm to 6pm Central. If the line is busy, they give you the opportunity to leave you name and number and they WILL call you back. Tickets are $30 + charges.

What a kick :D

"Your request for tickets has been approved.

Betty - wow, this has to be the furthest distance someone has traveled for a concert here at Thrasher. Iowa, Canada, South Dakota, now Pennsylvania! Glad you're making the trip though....we're really looking forward to Janis coming. We've had great success with other legendary folk artists - Roger McGuinn & Tom Rush to name a few, and are confident this will be a sell-out as well. See you in May. Martha

Your tickets will be held for you at the ticket office at 506 Mill Street in Green Lake. You can pick them up prior to the show (doors open at 6:45 PM)."

We just recieved this from Martha at the Thrasher Opera House..... Just so much fun to get a note like this....

We still are looking for info regarding The Beverly Arts Center in Chicago... Anyone know ticket info?

Hi Randy. I spoke with a woman at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago. She said tickets are NOT onsale yet but to check back by the end of the week. She also said it is a 400 seat theatre with reserved seating. So we don't have to worry about not getting tickets!

I think the least expensive and closest motel for Chicago is
Days Inn, Alsip 5150 W127 ST. 708-371-5600 I found a $64.99 rate. Not making a reservation until after I get tickets. I'm just funny that way!

I got tickets for Cedarsburg!! They said there aren't a whole lot of tickets left as they have been onsale since September! I saw 2 motel choices that caught my eye but for the difference, I REALLY prefer the
Baymont Inn 1415 PT. Washington Rd. Grafton, WI 262-387-1168
Am thinking about making our reservations there if I know others will also. It is approx $80.70 There was a Super8 about 7 miles from the venue. It was around $55 a night but it didn't look nearly as nice. I think the Baymont might be worth the difference but I will wait and see what others want to do.

That's all I have for now. I'd appreciate others' opinions on the motel situation. Let me know if the Days Inn (Chicago area) and Baymont Inn (Cedarsburg area) sound good to you.

Does anyone know where Green Lake is? I'm in Mpls., and I"m sure it's not too far.
Anyway, as far as hotels, I recomend you folks try an extended stay style hotel. They are usually nicer, and one night stays are fine. The reason i say this, is some of you mentioned you may "bunk" up to save $. These places often have suites with a completely seperate bedroom, or two, and usually have a double bed fold out sofa in the living room- as well as a kitchen, etc. I travel alot, and these are a hidden gem, I think a lot of folks think you have to stay for weeks, etc. It's always nicer than the cookie-cutter rooms at HI, etc, with two beds and nothing else. Just a thought, you could sleep 4-6 in much better comfort and at the same price as say, Holiday Inn. :)

Green Lake is about 250 miles southeast of Minneapolis. According to online maps, about a 4 1/2 hour drive.

Called and was able to order with a CC over the phone.
They told me it was open seating, not resevered since it is all one price.

Tickets with handling fee are $25 each. They hold at reception for you.

The show starts at 8pm, they open the doors around 7:30pm the nice
lady said. The building is open from 9:00AM on - so very easy to pick
up your tickets well in advance.

It blows me away...almost like we were talking to 2 different venues! Now they are closed, but the woman I spoke with had a TOTALLY different story! Reserved seats, try back at the end of the week, etc! What is UP with that?! If I get her again on the phone tomorrow, I will ask to speak with someone else. No, I won't ask....I will INSIST!!!!! SHEESH!!!

OK, it is 8:15PM DST!! And I just got tickets for the Chicago show! So they are still open. And I got a slightly different story than you did, Lori! I mean, I think they all need to sit down and get their stories straight!! I asked if the tickets were reserved or general admission. The lady I spoke with said there would be RESERVED seating! She said I could call back and she'd tell me which row and which seats we were getting!!! OY VEH!! She said the tickets would be at will call and they are open all day so we can pick them up whenever!!! She also said since I was one of the first to call, that I'd get good seats although she said "there isn't a bad seat in the house."

That's my story and I'm stuck with it.....until they change their minds again!!

Oh, as for the motel/hotel thing, we (Bat and I) aren't gonna be doubling up. And I think that the Comfort Inn would be ok. I LOVE the extended-stay places, have stayed in them for just one night....especially when my employer was paying! But not for the 2 of us for one night. Will be spending more for gas anyway! PS Just got a call tonight at 10PM from the Beverly Arts Center. The woman said that "the other woman" who spoke with me made a mistake. The tickets are general admission, NOT reserved. Did I still want the tickets?! Of course. As for the people working at the venue....well....no comment!!!!!

all together. Doubled checked again just 10 minutes ago and was
told open seating. Told the Lady I was meeting people from different
parts of the country and we wanted to sit together. So . . .lets start
the head count about a month out and maybe we can get seats
all in one location.

Now that's my story and I think I will do the 3 day run of dates.
Been to Chicago lots but not as much to WI - Yeah I know they have
cheese but so do we in California.

Good morning all...

The Chicago show is GENERAL ADMISSION

Ok we purchased all three sets of tickets... As to hotel accomodations please let us know where to reserve when a decision is reached.. We will probably spend two (maybe three) nights in Chicago, one night in the Cedarburg area aand one night in the Green lake area...

Also we may be spending a night in the Indianapolis area on our way there via the scenic rte... anyone have ideas of reasonable priced hotels within a few miles of there?

Thats it for us we are now officially committed :D

Anyone thats gonna be there feel free to drop us an e-mail and we will give you our cell phone number...

Best to all

R. from Pa

P.s. At the time we have lists of confirmed people attending that purchased tickets would it be possible for Admin or Janis to administer devine intervention with these facilities and get us a section so we the Rudies can be together? If not I'm sure we will all understand... But it sure would make for a nicer event if it's doable... Thank you :)

P.p.s.... Lori... Betty and I are looking forward to meeting you:)

Having noticed that there was a bit of mis-information being distributed by the Chicago Venue I would ask you all to consider a bit of restraint when you talk to them... Please bear in mind often these people are volunteers and not paid employees that take great pride in trying to offer us the best Janis experience possible. Some are most likely senior citizens and are simply passing along information that might be standard for most events at this facility while in fact this concert being General admissions appears to be an exception. Many of these volunteers do this just to be helpful as Betty and I have done numerous times at Musikfest.

Like many here I find it difficult to be faced with bad info or stupidity, but most often this is not the fault of the person on the phone as much the information they might be given or a lack of training time for them...

To the phone person, I would suggest be polite and say thank you... If you have issues ask for the manager... It doesn't take a lot of abuse to make a person regret having volunteered and when those people don't volunterer, we the concert goer suffer, which can affect the quality of the performance of the act...Just my suggestion... Thank You

R. from Pa

P.s. To those with the time have you considered volunteering at a local festival or non-profit concert venue? It can be very enjoyable and rewarding. Below is Betty and I while working as volunteers at Musikfest 2003...

Hi Randy. I've been nothing but polite to the folks in Chicago as they have been with me. They were just (most definitely) mis-informed. It was frustrating. And I can say that I didn't speak with any seniors. Actually, some of the sharpest tacks I know are seniors! ;)

I've spoken with a few people who think the Comfort Inn in Alsip, IL is ok with them....a good choice according to someone who knows the area! So I am going to go ahead and make our reservations there.

As for Cedarburg, I am leaning towards the Baymont Inn but would sure like input from others before I make our reservations!

Thanks.

Marcia :)

This is from an earlier posting in this thread. Here's the Chicago motel info:

Days Inn, Alsip 5150 W127 ST. 708-371-5600 I found a $64.99 rate.

As for The Baymont Inn, I am still waiting to hear whether or not folks attending the Cedarburg concert want to stay there. I think I said it was in the $80 range. It is about 4 miles away (I think) and about the closest to the venue.

I doubt we'll be staying in Cedarburg that night as we live only an hour away.

I made our hotel/motel reservations for Chicago and Cedarburg! This is starting to feel REAL!! Anyone needing any info about accomodations, feel free to email me or post here. I did find the cheapest rate for Chicago online. They have a non-refundable rate for $55.24. We don't plan on NOT going so it's worth the savings!

Randy, we never know until we get to the gig whether they'll let us "reserve" seats. That being said, just send me and Kimbe an email a week or so before, and we'll do our best!

Janis, Kimbe and staff... again thank you... anything you can do for us rudies will be greatly appreciated... I'll start a thread for those that have purchased tickets so we can get an accurate count of who will be attending those shows so we can get it sent to you in advance...

Betty and I are getting fired up now... This morning we started working on the trip timing and suspect it will take us between 8 and 10 days including the Legion Post visits and other touristy stuff... This is gonna be another really great trip though without Redjack the Frog and Kathy it won't be the same... :(

Life is grand!!!
