In the past we have been told this is basically our board to do with as we will within reasonable and legal guidelines... I think that this has been working quite well... People are for the most part making every effort to not only be civil and respectful to each other but even going the extra mile to getting along while still being able to agree or disagree in a respectful manner... That said...

I apologise in advance if I am misreading something or reading something into a screen name that is not intended but I am beyond curious and in fact a bit concerned. Currently the newest members name is “pornfamastahhh...For some reason this screen name is a bit disconcerting to me. If I am wrong then I publically apologize to this new individual, however by simple implication that name does at least appear to be a directly in opposition to me of the simple guidelines as stated by admin. Is this a person? a bot? an adult? I guess that’s my point of concern… Is that concern shared by others or am I in fact over reacting?

Best to all

Randy, I actually am glad you brought it up. I frowned when reading it too, but decided to wait for this person's first post before discussing it.

Curious of any response of our newest member...

I don't believe you are "over reacting" Randy. Just expressing valid concerns. I find these kinds of situations wait-and-see tho, and trust John and Janis' judgement implicitly.

Is this a person? a bot? an adult?

My guess is: a person with the intellect of a child and the brain of a bot. But that's just me. :p There does lately seem to be an attraction to this site for Internet trolls and scammers. Perhaps they think they'll reach a captive audience. Perhaps they are just lost in space.

Cyberspace that is. ;)

I'm with Dee.. i wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure John will deal appropriately with whoever or whatever it is.

Its the double edged sword of being in the search engines...

I hadn't seen it yet. I thought I just pee'd someone off with my message in the myths about the US thread. Glad I didn't. Anyway Randy, I agree with what everybody else said. But I think it's good that we all keep our eyes open, just as you did now. For obvious reasons. And also because this IS also our space to talk with eachother about Janis, her music and whatever else we like to talk about.

I really wish you guys would report your concerns directly to the webmaster, or use the little button. It would save us so much time... We'd rather be alerted to something that turns out to be unnecessary, than miss something necessary!

I, Like eva had not seen the name. and i suppose we are all tended towards thinking the best rather than the worst. Let's take this as a lesson and take Janis' advice and report futher incidents directly to the webmaster...it can't hurt and it will leave us all free of worry. peace

I sent a new member alert to webmaster@janisian.com as soon as I saw the name. I'm sure it'll be taken care of soon.

Can't use the little button since this person has not posted anything.
