....the crowd of "supporters" Bush had sitting behind him during his rant on why he vetoed the Stem Cell bill? The women in their Little House On The Prairie dresses who would not make eye contact with anyone, the men in suit coats worn over collarless shirts, some of whom seemed a bit uncomfortable wearing shoes.

The only thing I can think of is that some staffer must have collected the congregation of some very rural Deep South church, the sort of church that is generally in a pole shed, where people speak in tongues during services and snakes are handled periodically. And of course where cousins marry, which helps to explain why such establishments continue to exist.

Nice to see the sort of constituency Mr. Bush represents face to face for perhaps the first time. But I must say that it didn't look much like the face of America.

Yes DaveM, it was clearly a staged photo op. Something as blatant as that actually does us a service; namely, to remind us lest we forget that much of what we see on tv is arranged or otherwise edited by someone(s) with undisclosed but semi transparent agendas. Most of it is more subtle, more expert, but no less contrived. We do indeed have a free press in the sense that without penalty or prison one can find a way to print and distribute whatever one might wish, at least on a small scale. What we also actually have is a terribly expensive national distribtive media, and so, as in other matters, the guys with the most money come out ahead. Neverthless I agree: it was contrived. It is good to be reminded every so often.

Thanks GW. Love ya. Stay the course no matter how G.. . d... .disastrous, that's what I say.

Stephen Colbert did a segment on that and in it was a clip of the thing that showed one of the kids being held flipping ol' Bu$hyboy the bird. I don't know that it's legitimate because it might have been faked (deliberately) but it sure didn't look like it to me. :p
