In the Netherlands people have made an internetsite called Persoon van het Jaar (Person of the Year). It contains lots of names of singers, public figures, sportsmen/women etc. You can vote on them to make them Person of the Year. Lots of international artists are on it, also Dutch singers etc.
So I nominated Janis some time ago to become Person of 2006, because this year is her 40th anniversary as an artist.

Everyone who wants to vote for Janis (also from abroad) can go to site
www.persoonvanhetjaar.nl

You can find Janis under the button " Genomineerden" (" Nominated persons"), you get a bar with characters, click on i and you get a list of people whose names begin with i. Janis is on top.
After clicking on her name, you have to click on the square below right
"Stem" (=Vote).
Then you get a bar in which you have to full in youir e-mail address and click again. You get a link back (after a few seconds or minutes) and by clicking on that one you confirm your vote (you have to do that the same day and on the same pc, otherwise your vote does not count). (No spam or such things!!)

You can vote once a day on the same person. If you vote by SMS you can vote several times, but then it costs.

Janis now has more than 440 votes. I don' t think she' ll become THE person of the year, but that doesn' t matter, for us she already is (besides our loved ones). However, it is nice to see how far the number of votes will come, compared to others.

did any non Dutch speaker realise this.... Eva said when we get an email confirming our vote we need to click on the link for our vote to count...
