One of the stories in Stars is inspired by the song "Joan", but I can't find which cd it's on! Does anyone know?
Thanks!

Not aware of any Janis Ian song called "Joan". Could you be specific about the title of the story. And we are talking about the "Stars" science fiction book, correct?

Yes, it's from the Stars sci-fi book, Tad Williams' The Scent of Trumpets, The Voices of Smoke. It has in quotes, "You are not alone. All is well. I am here." -- From "Joan" by Janis Ian.
Thanks for at least responding! :o

Robin: Janis never recorded "Joan".
During the live online chat with Janis and Mike Resnick, in August 2003 (the time of the launch of the "Stars" anthology), Anna from Dublin specifically asked Janis about this.
She told us Tad Williams had said he'd been thinking about doing something with Joan of Arc, and Janis said she had a song about her that hadn't been recorded. "Let's see if it works."
Dar then asked if Janis had sung the song to Tad! And Janis admitted she'd merely sent him the lyrics!
I think it worked! :)

Robin,
As Mike said, Janis hasn't recorded it yet.........not even on one of her Unreleased albums, unfortunately.
How are you enjoying the book? I think one of my favorites was the story by Robert J. Sawyer, can't remember what it's called at the moment, but since then I've read most of his books and he is FANTASTIC!! If you like intelligent scifi with interesting characters, he's a guy for you.

Thanks all! Whew, I thought I was missing something! LOL I just started reading the book, on the 4th story, I think, but will look for the one you suggested, Dar! Thanks! It's been so long since I've been in here (formerly RDDinPhx) but it's nice to see all the same people are still around!
