Chinese Fake Hard Drive
from Damn Cool Pics by noreply@blogger.com (Damn Cool Pics)

One guy brought this failed 500Gb hard drive to service center because of some problems. When workers of the center opened it they were very surprised, because there was... 128 Mb flash drive inside instead of the 500GB hard drive. The man explained that he bought this fake Samsung HDD in a Chinese store. Be careful what you buy.

Gotta love the large nuts used to hold the flash drive in place.

This is an almost perfect metaphor for what we've gotten by letting China take over most of our manufacturing capacity.

Gotta love the large nuts used to hold the flash drive in place. And give it weight to make it seem like it's got something a bit more substantial inside.

Sitting here typing on my HP laptop that was custom built in the PRC. It would not surprise me in the least if there are some extra surprises inside that would enable someone to access and download everything I create.

But I get the last laugh. Anyone who is assigned to pilfering my computer files for whatever nefarious purposes will be rewarded by knowing all the intimate details of my incredibly mundane and boring existence. Ha, ha, ha.

Ah well, Dr. Oak. You really should create something that would make it worth their while....make it up if need be--we'll all be happy to help!

"And give it weight to make it seem like it's got something a bit more substantial inside." Rather like present-day American journalism and/or politics? This could get deep.

And always remember: never judge a hard drive by its cover.
