So I downloaded Firefox 4. For OSX. And it let me. Even though it is only compatible with Intel processors now, not PowerPC chips! I have a PowerBook G4 and it's been running fine, almost around the clock (unless I'm out of town) and I see no reason to replace it. Of course, I didn't know that it was no longer supported on the Motorola chipset until after it had overwritten my existing app. No check, no warning, and no older versions currently supported on the official Mozilla site.
I had to live with Safari for 3 days. It was awful. I feel as if I have PTSD. I almost considered downloading IE9, it was that bad.
For those of you who might be afflicted by this plague, fear not. You can download Firefox 3 here: http://mac.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=3007&t=0&i=2
Interestingly enough, although it was gone from my computer for 3 days, it kept my NoScript and Adblock settings, and I was still logged on to Facebook when I fired that mother up. But I was no logged on to gmail.
I feel as if I've just gone to LA via Omaha.
