Mike--if I were you I think I'd hold onto those New buffalo gold dollars. As a first-year issue coin, they will almost certainly go up in value in as little as a year.

I'm actually saving toward buying one for my own collection....price of gold has gone up so of late that I might not manage it, but they're a beautiful coin, and very likely a good investment.
