Tomorrow night Lou Christie will be performing for free at the Montville High School (Near Parsippany, New Jersey....) "Lightnin' Strikes"... "Two Faces Have I"..."The Gypsy Cried"... "Rhapsody in the Rain"... Betty and I will be there so if anyone else comes feel free to say Hi....:p :o

Well tonight we drove the 70 miles to Montville New jersey, a pleasent community near Parsippany new jersey. We were delighted that the weather was so clear and pleasent... The event was part of a local 4th of July community Fair which included carnival rides and foods, and some classic 1950's Chevrolets.... The only thing other then food and rides with a cost was parking and we got there before they started to charge for parking so we parked for free. We wandered a bit as the set up was completed and set out chairs up in the second row. The scheduled opening act was the Shangrila's, to be followed by Lou Christie....We sat through the soundchecks for both acts. As the 7:30 pm start time we saw the Shangrila's now in performance dress when with no warning lightning started to flash and a sudden INTENSE squall blew through.... Heavy rains and winds... So much so that several of the concession tents blew over and a set of the large column concert speakers blew over injuring one of the stage crew who had to be taken out in an ambulance bleeding profusely... I suspect and pray he will be alright but know for sure he will have one hell of a headache tomorrow. Shortly after this squall the announcement was made that the concert had to be cancelled due to lightning in the region... We then left and visited my brother George in the next town for an hour then drove home. All in all Betty and I had a great time. We met some interesting people that were aware of some venues that I was unaware of. We are going to exchange notes via snail mail... If I find anything good I will pass it along to you all via this board.

Too bad it was stormed out. I would have loved to see it...but actually I'd be more excited about the Shangri Las than Lou Christie! I love the girl groups, and I identified with them especially (as a kid I wished that vroom vroom was coming to pick ME up, sigh.......:cool:
