I know this has probably been asked before, but what ever happened to Claire Bay and the other band members ?

Babs,

Welcome to the message boards.

I don't remember the story around what you're asking, so I'll leave it to Janis (or someone else who does know) to answer.

I believe Clair Bay married Janis' drummer (Barry Larzowitz) (sp?) and now resides in N.J.

And they have a grown-up son, I think. I remember a photo of Claire and Janis from just a couple of years back. On the old web page, maybe. Weren't they (Janis & Claire) amazing on stage together? And, I always thought Barry was the cutest guy in the band.

I absolutely LOVED Janis and Claire together! I remember a particularly terrific performance on the Tonight Show when Johnny Carson was the man! Those were the days.............

Thanks M/G, Kathleen and Marcia. You've taught me something new about Janis today. :D

Marcia, I remember that "Tonight Show" too! I had horrible tonsilitis, for the first and only time! (still have my tonsils). So, I was up all night anyway, 11th grade high school student missing 2 weeks of school! They did "Got to Get Up", which is a very rare performance. Johnny even said "you don't turn on the tv that often and hear two young women singing "I need a man". That got a great laugh!

Kathleen, we were buddies way back then and didn't know it yet! <g>
I'll never forget that show. Wish I'd had a VCR but that wasn't to come for quite some time.

Kathleen and Marcia,

Do you have a date or an approximate date for this tonight show appearance?
It might be on this DVD set.

Fall of 1975 is all that I remember. I doubt it's on a DVD, but let us know!

If you find it, you will have scooped Kathleen. And that's a hard thing to do!

Chicago has a Museum of Broadcast Communications (where I saw the
Janis segment of Soundstage on VHS). I contacted the information center
and was told Janis appeared twice on The Carson Show: Oct. 20 1972 and
Sept. 24 1975.

This transplanted Chicagoan is SO proud of you right now. ;)
Go Cubs. :D

Well done, Michael - and thanks for those dates!
Claire did indeed marry my drummer Barry, and they had a son. As far as I know, they live in NJ and the son is almost grown (around 17). She teaches exercise, and we correspond occasionally.

It was definitely the 1975 show that I saw. I didn't know about Janis in
1972. I don't *think* they played her music (Society's Child) in my neck of the woods. What a shame.

I DID have tonsilitis although not at that exact same time! However, I also still have my tonsils!
