View Full Version : The case of the disappearing posts?

I've replied to one thread 5 times before I actually had a post that showed up. At least I think it did, I haven't checked yet. I think what's happening is it's "timing out" so when I go back and enter my username and password, the post disappears. My posts usually timed out before and I would have to log in again but they didn't disappear.
Anyone having this issue or is it me? I'm going to start typing them in Word, then cut and past into this message board 'cause I hate typing them once, never mind 5 times!

I noticed a couple of other people trying to do the same and then they just disappear. Hmm..
PS I got your message on Roady.

Ah ha...and here I thought I was the only one this happened to! Actually, one time I apparently wasn't logged in and typed a post and it disappeared; but then another time the system let me log in and kept my Reply to Thread - so go figure!
Hasn't happened to me in a long time but in the past I've lost LONG missives when I've composed an e-mail message and Internet Explorer (on my old HP laptop's Vista operating system) timed out and lost my message - so frustrating!
You people are simply getting old and are forgetting things...

don't know if this subject/question is still up-to-date,
I had the same prob, when I had NOT checked the 'remember me' when logging in.
That was the reason being asked to login again, after I had spend long time writing.

I've lost long posts before they got "posted". I do feel most everything happens for a reason, so I just let it go. My mouth gets me in a lot of trouble sometimes. And soooo many times what I write (which I hear in my head) sounds completely different on the board.

Well the missing posts seems to be almost a thing of the past because I decided to improve my typing, get my tired, overworked fingers in shape by enrolling in the online course called The Nimble Fingers Typing Program (http://www.nimblefingers.com/b_exer.htm)!
Check it out! ;)

well ... what about writing your post in an editor 1st, then copy & paste it to JIMB ?
I use to do this with urls + some txt, never tried with whole post, since, by doing so I miss the Rudies ... feeling quite alone 'down' there ...
anyway, the basic idea would save time > won't be timed-out when logging in after your post is written. (Is meant for 'snail's pace' writers like me).
aforeyego :)
p.s.: when loggin in I do check 'remember me' 1st, then type in name + password

I've quickly learned to transfer it to a word document if it's going to be long, before now. Copying and pasting same just before I post. That way we don't come up against this problem as it doesn't have time to lose it for you.
