One of my former students has apparently had her email account captured by bots. I keep getting emails with >no subject< in the title, with links to ads. Is there some way I can block her email address, so I stop getting this crap? I have comcast email. Any suggestions are appreciated, especially if they actually work.

Sorry to hear about that, Oak. I'm not familiar with comcast, but here's a link to how to block particular email addresses in Yahoo email (http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/mmail/mmail/mm_otherspam3.html). Maybe this will give you some idea that you can apply to your particular situation.
Here's a link to what I found regarding comcast. (http://www.ehow.com/how_2045434_block-spam-comcast-email.html) If that doesn't help, you may want to contact your comcast customer support. Best of luck to you.

Oak,
You should have a spam/virus filtering software that comes with your Comcast package. Probably either Postini or Stamp. It filters out spam and viruses before they can even get to your email box, but you still can look at them safe and securely by logging on to their website. Also you can fine tune it to block out specific email addresses or just certain domains, like all yahoo mail. I tend to block most free email providers like hotmail and yahoo, cause that's wear most of the spam comes from, but still can see them when I go to my Positini website to look at the junk.
If there's a will there's a way.

My advice may be a bit radical but it will work for sure: throw out your computer.
No more spammail. I'll garantee you that.
