It's finally over and I think I can get back to all the business at hand, so to speak....such as catching up on this MB...I am so behind!
The service for my mother was really nice. The minister was a friend of mine and knew her, so he was able to make it a very personal thing. Music played was I Hear You Sing Again - Janis Ian (at the beginning) and When They Ring The Golden Bells - Natalie Merchant & Karin Perris (at the end)...not a dry eye in the place and Janis made a few new fans today...including the funeral director, who wanted to know about the song and who was singing it. Thank you, Janis for allowing me to share that personal piece of your life with my own mother.

Everyone has finally left and I am enjoying some alone time.

Thank you, everyone for all the kind words of support over the last few months...I hope to be here posting more regularly soon.
Now.....time to start planning for an August picnic! :)

Glad the service was a good one and that Janis touched more hearts than she already had, Lexa. A big hug to you.

Good to hear the service went as well as you thought it would be Lexa. Glad that the songs you selected gave you, the family and friends the support you needed.

The service sounds beautiful. There are some customs I don't like, but funerals really serve an important function. They really help you to deal with your feelings and start to heal. And it's so wonderful and appropriate that Janis's music could also help with that. Bless her, and you and your loved ones.

Lexa, it does sound like the service was lovely and like it helped a lot of people deal with a very tough time. The songs you chose are beautiful ones and ones i'm sure will live on in the hearts of all who loved your mom for a long long time
peace My dear friend, if you need anything...

Lexa, you have more courage than I. After my mom died, it was probably a year or so until I could listen to that poignant song of Janis'...I was shattered all over again if I tried.
You continue to be in my thoughts.
